After tiring of pushing the truck back and forth, it was time to install the truck bolster. The first step in this operation was to block a plank up under the heads of the 1 by 24 inch bolts that hold the side frames together. The nuts were removed from the tops of the bolts, and the longitudinal bars removed from each side of the truck. The Cass loco shop fork lift was then used to lower the bolster home. We had to nudge it a bit to get it beyond unworn portions of the bolster pedestals, but once past these areas, it dropped right in. A great feeling! Replacing the longitudinal bars and nuts took but a few minutes.
