Dean tacking a baffle to the vertical angle iron bolted to the tank wall. Eventually the baffles will be riveted to the tank wall, and welded to the tank floor. The baffles have two purposes: 1) to keep water sloshing to a minimum, for locomotive stability on uneven track; 2) tie the tank walls and floor together for strength and rigidity.
