Moving Shay 11 from California to Cass in 1998

In 1998 the Cass Railroad piurchased a Shay from a museum in Campo, California (about 50 miles east of San Diego). Several Association volunteers accompanied a Cass crew to California to prepare the locomotive for truck shipment to Cass. These photos show the locomotive being loaded on three tractor trailer trucks for their journey east. The move was successful and the locomotive was pressed into service in 1999.
