Due to its mission to promote the Cass Scenic Railroad, the MSR&LHA does tend to focus on Cass. The establishment of the Cass Scenic Railroad as a world-class park and museum of geared railroad logging has encouraged considerable scholarship devoted to the 100-plus years of Cass railroading - some of which is distilled on this website. But the interests of MSR&LHA extend to all railroading and logging in West Virginia. In the period 1880 - 1960 there were over 200 logging and numerous other little railroads in the state, many with histories that remain obscure today. And, in addition, there are other short line and recreational railroads apart from Cass that are operating today. These are all potential material for "Other Railroads."
