The Cass Scenic Railroad purchased Shay #3 in 2002. It was located
in Washington so they had to have it trucked across the country. This
photo shows the locomotive coming through Cass on its way to the shop
complex. The photo also shows the type of standardized white wood
houses and boardwalks that characterize the historic company town even
