The cutter is advancing down at a 45 degree angle by the power-feed system on the tool slide of this Cincinnati shaper. To ensure the "V" is central to the locating key, one side was finished (a very light cut); the work was then turned end-for-end on the table, and the second side then was finished at the same table setting.
