Better put the gyroscope on to view this one! One is looking UP at the floor of the inverted tender tank. The vertical plates are the baffles, to keep water sloshing to a minimum. Without the baffles, it is possible for harmonic sloshing to derail a tender, even at slower speeds.
The tank bottom has been tack welded to the bottom of the sides, as well as the feet of the baffles. Finish welding will be completed after the tank has been righted. The thinner cross bars are temporary braces to pull the sides flat and true prior to laying on of the tank floor. Photo by Rick Brigger. |
