The welded diamond with the stack tube simply perched upon it. Final attachment cannot happen until the guts of the stack are installed. It is quite amazing how large this stack is, 31 inches from the floor to the small end of the taper. When on top of the boiler, close to ten feet in the air, it will not seem nearly as big. The conical sections of the diamond are fabbbed in two sections each, with the joints placed 90-degrees apart. The welds will remain visible.
